Jill Hollywood Jackson's
Fires have stars fleeing Tinseltown
HOLLYWOOD It's Dullsville in

Tinseltown. What with all the fires and heat, all the big names have fled either to snow-capped mountains or to ocean towns. However, the place is packed with tourists, ever searching for a star. Again, my advice is IF you come this way, take an air-conditioned tour bus. You will be cool and comfortable and be shown what there is to see. There is some filming, and more for the future.

Michelle Pfeiffer has signed on for "Hairspray." Not a remake of an old film, but the movie version of the Broadway musical comedy about star-struck teenagers. Pfeiffer will play Velma Von Tussel, a former beauty queen who produced the show. John Travolta and Queen Latifah are also set for the roaring romp, to be a December release. And, of course, you know Michelle is happily married to David Kelley. She started her career by winning the Miss Orange County Beauty Contest. And can she sing? Of course she can. Don't you remember "Grease II" and "The Fabulous Baker Boys"?

George Clooney collects motorcycles. Harry Connick, Jr. collects cuff links. Johnny Depp: insects and rare books; Whoopi Goldberg collects Bakelite jewelry and Maxfield Parrish prints; Angelina Jolie: knives; Dolly Parton: butterflies; John Travolta: aviation memorabilia, and on and on. All this is a beautiful coffee table book titled "What Celebrities Collect!" by Michele Karl (Pelican Press), with color pictures of all.

And while we're on the subject of books, Oberon Entertainment is readying a film based on Jan Neuharth's suspense thriller "The Hunt," about the sport of fox hunting. Tab Hunter is set to play Richard Evan Clark, Master of the Hunt. Then the same company will produce "The Chase," based on the recently released book by Neuharth, with Hunter reprising his

Richard Evan Clark role.

Another aside to Melba P. of Washington, La. Indeed, I have read about and heard that Julia and Danny want more twins. So, if that's what they want, I say "Go for it." As for Julia's career, she can still take her pick of pictures.

AND, I'm sure she has learned the legitimate stage is not her best arena. Also, keep your eye out for young Emma Roberts, daughter of Eric, niece of Julia. She looms on the horizon as an upcoming star.
